3D mark showed my GPU utilisation fluctuating between 40% to 80% range, only occasionally hitting 100% very briefly. That was on par with 1080ti systems when I checked online. I also run Unigine Superposition benchmark with around 11 000 score. My previous score with the 1080Ti was just over 9000 and the brand new 3080 managed an around 13 000 score. I was way behind the average result on a similar system. Assassins Creed Origins went from 70 to 77 fps Ghostrunner was unplayable with RTS on and Cyberpunk 2077 dipped to the forties more often than not. It was very annoying to see the DLSS pop in. Control was having issues with the DLSS, it took seconds to render full quality assets when I turned the camera and the framerate was around 50 to 60. Well It worked, just not all that great in terms of performance. I got basically minimal boost to my FPS compared to the brave little 1080Ti I had. So I was trying some different games and. Of course I did not expect to get triple the performance that I had from my old 1080Ti, but seeing 0-10% improvement in framerates while playing AAA games was a disappointing. Much to my dismay, I was not getting nowhere near the performance upgrade I was looking for. I installed it with a little help from my cat and booted up some games. I got lucky and scored a 3080 (TUF-RTX3080-O10G-GAMING) for my computer in December. So I had a 1080Ti system that ran great, but I wanted to get in on all the Ray Tracing stuff with the 3000 series. I still have unanswered questions, I'd love to hear some ideas on what is and was going on. So this is a noob to noob story about my 3080. I'm not a very seasoned PC builder, I built some system in the early 2000's with my dad and then took a long break. When I finally managed to get it working, I decided to write a post to answer all the questions I had while messing around with it. This is going to be along post, but I've done a million billion google searches to fix my 3080.
